President to Tackle Hawaii's Hardest Course

Diamante Cabo Report brings you this news from Hawaii.  President Barack Obama is playing a round of golf at a course billed as one of Hawaii's most difficult. The president arrived at Ko'olau Golf Club, near Honolulu late Wednesday morning with his golf party. The course is located at the base of a mountain range and is known for its great scenery. Missouri state representative purchases Missouri golf course

Diamante Cabo Report brings you this news from Missouri.  A group of Missouri businessmen, including state Rep. Dave Schatz, purchased the Sullivan Golf Course last Thursday afternoon, Dec. 22, in the second auction of the property during the last eight days. The Missourian is reporting that Schatz, of Spring Bluff, MO, who represents the 111th District and also owns Schatz Underground Inc., a telecommunications utility contracting company, and three others paid $520,000 for the 119-acre course and its buildings and equipment.  For more read here:

Debt Woes Force Quinn Group to Sell World Famous Course

The Diamante Cabo Report brings you this news about the Belfry.  The world famous hotel and golf resort - the Belfry - located in the West Midlands has been put on the market.  The Quinn group racked up debt of 105-million pounds which forced the complex into the hands of Anglo-Irish Bank and US insurance firm Liberty Mutual. Commercial property specialists Jones Lang LaSalle have reportedly been appointed to administrate the sale. For more read here:

Pinehurst Back as the Capital of American Golf

The Diamante Cabo Report brings you this look at Pinehurst from Exeoglf Magazine.  The publication looks at the restoration of the Pinehurst area and its reemergence as the top golf destination in the country.   According to the magazine there are more than three dozen courses in Pinehurst area, two hours east of state's largest city of Charlotte, 1 1/2 hours south of the capital of Raleigh, but all golf should begin and possibly end with the resort of the same name. Senior Players Championship Moves to Pittsburgh

The Diamante Cabo Report brings you this news.   The Sacramento Bee is reporting the Senior Players Championship will be played in Pittsburgh in 2012. The Fox Chapel Golf Club will host the tournament from June 28-July 1. The mid- summer scheduling is a change from the last five years, in which the major has been played in the fall or late summer.

Anguilla Golf Course Transfers Ownership

The Diamante Cabo Report brings you this news from Anguilla.  The BVI Beacon is reporting that The Temenos Golf Club, an 18-hole course on the Eastern shore of Anguilla has emerged from receivership.  The golf club stood unused for three years.  Ownership has been transferred to billionaire Leandro Rizzuto who purchased the property at a public auction conducted in Anguilla in July for $15 million.

Cost a Priority for Golf Course Development in North America

The Diamante Cabo Report found this WSJ article that provides an outlook of golf course developments.


The article laments about the state of golf course development and looks at the future of the game in North America.  The boom for golf courses ended around 2006.  The article states, "Every year since 2006, more courses have closed in the U.S. than have opened, with a net loss of more than 300, and a huge oversupply remains."
